Brian joined chambers as a pupil in October 2006 and became a member of chambers in October 2007.

Brian's practice covers the fields both of commercial litigation and employment law and he regularly appears in the High Court (mainly in front of Masters and Registrars), County Courts and Employment Tribunals.  Brian has extensive experience of commercial litigation, having spent several years in the litigation department of a law firm.

Professional Experience

Commercial

Business Sale Disputes - Brian has recently been instructed (led by Ian Mayes QC) in relation to a dispute arising out of a share purchase agreement.

Company Law - in the past Brian has been involved in several s.459 petitions and also has experience of claims involving breach of director's duties, director disqualification and derivative actions.

Banking - Brian has recently acted for a number of major high street banks in claims concerning allegations of negligence, fraud and breach of mandate.

Insolvency - Brian has acted for individual and corporate creditors and debtors.

Insurance - Brian has been instructed on behalf of major insurance companies in cases concerning construction disputes, product liability and personal injury.

Property - including adverse possession; possession proceedings; damages for trespass; and landlord and tenant disputes.

Civil Fraud and Asset Freezing - as a pupil Brian assisted his pupil masters with a number of civil fraud and asset freezing cases.

Employment

Individual Employee Issues - Brian has acted for individuals and companies in cases involving unfair dismissal, wrongful dismissal, redundancy, TUPE, equal pay and whistleblowing.

Discrimination, Harassment and Victimisation - including discrimination on the grounds of sex, disability, age and race.  Brian has also been involved in a number of cases involving allegations of harassment under the Protection from Harassment Act 1997.
