Charles has a broad ranging practice across the fields of commercial and employment law, and has appeared in every relevant Court and tribunal including the House of Lords. He was appointed QC in 2009 when still only 19 years Call.

For some 6 years he was engaged in the seminal and high-profile “Dadourian” litigation, which has given rise to landmark cases in civil fraud including most notably in the continually expanding area of worldwide freezing injunctions.

He is frequently in demand for complex, high value litigation in commercial and employment law, requiring tactical nous, team leadership and fearless advocacy. Current / recent instructions:

- He is currently instructed in litigation with a value of c. £70m acting for Icelandic investors in their attempts to recover monies from subsidiaries of the failed Icelandic bank Kaupthing.

- He is currently instructed by the Cipriani Group in their challenge to a worldwide freezing injunction imposed on the Group holding company granted in favour of Hotel Cipriani srl arising out of litigation concerning the London restaurant formerly known as Cipriani London.

- He is currently acting for the former CFO of a large Saudi Arabia industrial and investment group pursuing various employment claims in the ET and High Court and resisting a secret commission claim in the Chancery Division.

- He was recently retained to lead an employment, commercial and intellectual property team in $1/4 billion litigation arising out of the establishment and operation of one of Russia’s most successful and profitable social networking websites.

Charles is a regular lecturer on commercial matters, most recently having delivered a lecture to Freshfields on the Rome I and Rome II Council Regulations (the law applicable respectively to contractual and non-contractual obligations).
