Employment
Lydia undertakes work in all areas of employment law and is instructed by both claimants and respondents at all stages of proceedings. She has provided advice on issues relating to maternity leave, religious discrimination and sexual orientation discrimination, as well as all aspects of unfair dismissal and constructive dismissal. Lydia has experience in a range of employment matters including full hearings and pre-hearing reviews dealing with strike out applications, TUPE transfers and equal pay. Recent cases have considered the fairness of the employers actions in capability dismissals and in misconduct dismissals: Croft v Thurlow Nunn (JV) Limited and Gboa v International Students House.
Commercial
Lydia’s commercial practice covers all aspects of contractual disputes and insolvency proceedings. During pupillage she worked on Colliers CRE Plc v Pandya & Others an unlawful means conspiracy claim in which two members of chambers were counsel. She also worked on a complex banking case involving issues as to the fairness of terms in investment banking agreements: Credit Suisse (UK) Ltd v Tisun Investments Ltd.
Lydia has been involved in several injunction applications in which members of chambers were appearing including an appeal to the Court of Appeal. Lydia has also appeared in the Lands Tribunal and in the Magistrates Court during her second sixth period of pupillage.
Before pupillage Lydia gained commercial experience at Deloitte in their indirect tax section working in part with the in house legal team. This work included involvement in litigation in the VAT Tribunal. She is also able to draw on her personal experience as a director of two private limited companies and chairman of a registered charity.
