Professor Mauro Rubino-Sammartano is an eminent International Arbitrator and President of the European Court of Arbitration. Among other positions, he is also President of the Unione Camere Internazionali (Italian Section of International Attorneys) and Honorary President of the International Union of Advocates (UIA).

Professor Rubino-Sammartano is the founding partner of the law firm Rubino-Sammartano. His practice specialisms include Contract Law, International Arbitration and Litigation, Construction, Mergers and Acquisitions, and Sale of Goods.

Admitted to the Milan bar in 1961, he was educated at the Catholic University of Milan and has been Visiting Professor and Lecturer at the Universities of Milan and Padua.

Professor Rubino-Sammartano has been awarded numerous state honours, including the Grand Cross (Order of the Merit in Portugal), High Officer (Order of the Merit, Italy), Cross of Honour (Order of St. Ramon, Spain), and Silver Star (Austria). He is also an honorary member of the Sofia and Istanbul Bars.

Professor Rubino-Sammartano is the author of numerous textbooks and articles on international arbitration, including International Arbitration Law (Kluer Law International, 2nd edition, 2001). He is fluent in English, French and Italian.
