COLIN MANNING

 

Colin has been a barrister for over 40 years and has wide experience in litigating commercial and business law disputes involving contract, international trade, arbitration, share purchase/sale, partnership, professional and clinical negligence, entertainment and media (in particular film, music and video rights), building and construction, computer (technical and copyright), landlord and tenant and employment. His practice has led him to travel to Paris, Geneva, Chicago and Sierra Leone.

He has been a Recorder since 2000, and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. In addition, he chairs Primary Care Trust Tribunal Inquiries into the fitness of doctors and dentists to remain on NHS Performers’ Lists. He has also taken evidence on commission for use in foreign proceedings.

Colin is a CEDR accredited mediator and is now one of the most experienced and widely regarded commercial mediators at the Bar. He brings to the mediation process considerable knowledge gained from his wide commercial practice. He is able to relate easily to clients and understand their needs, whilst adopting a commercial, realistic, friendly but firm approach. He is available to provide his services anywhere in the country and abroad.

Colin is a leading and committed commercial mediator with a wide experience in mediating contract, construction, company/shareholder, partnership, professional negligence, landlord and tenant, property, Intellectual property and employment disputes. His practice includes neutral evaluation and MED/ARB dispute resolution.

He was accredited as a mediator by CEDR in 1997 and is one of the most experienced barrister mediators recognised by the Bar Council. He is listed as a leading mediator in Chambers & Partners Directory, and in Legal 500.

Colin brings to the mediation process considerable knowledge gained over 40 years from his wide commercial practice. He is available to provide his services anywhere in the country or abroad. He has appeared as counsel at various mediations and advises on the suitability of disputes and preparation for mediation.

Colin has been described in Chambers & Partners as having a "real mediation skill” who makes mediation "rather enjoyable”.  He is regarded as "thoughtful, considerate, imaginative, and persuasive, without being overbearing, ‘herding’ or patronising and with an empathetic and sympathetic manner.”

He is a member of the Bar Council ADR Sub-Committee and has presented seminars and workshops on mediation awareness training for the Bar and solicitors and lawyers in all parts of the country and also to Hungarian Bar Association.
